This is Vera, Filson's second wife and the mother of his two sons, Billy and Richard. FY and Vera (familiarly known as Minka) had been married to Stanley North, an artist, and went on to marry Clifford Bax, a writer. Vera was a painter and poet.

This is almost certainly a self portrait by Dod Proctor, the Newlyn painter who was Filson Young's lover for a period and whose great (if rather temporary) national fame he was instrumental in promoting. He was diligent in hyping "Morning", her most well-known painting by far.
